The Shack and My Experiment

I recently finished William Young’s The Shack and decided to share a few of my thoughts about it. This is not an exhaustive review, but more of a quick chat and a platform to launch my “Shack Experiment.”

This title, although not meant to be some deep theological discussion, really caused me to question my views on God and how I’m to think of Him and interact with Him. This is not some replacement for bible reading or church, but it challenges you to consider why you think what you do about God through an easy to connect with, fictional story. This is not some God-ordained, wonderfully written story that will stand the test of time. It’s simply a man’s attempt to inspire the rest of man-kind. Read the rest of this entry »

So much to do and so little time…

Man have I been busy lately (I’m sure most everyone can concur)! I just wanted to give a little update on my ongoing projects and life, since I haven’t really made a post in a while:

- I turned 23 on July 6th! Birthday celebrations ranged from Disneyland to Shout House to Planet X Bowling to dinner with friends. Thanks to everyone who made it especially great and had a part in the celebration week (video coming soon)!

- I’m rebuilding my clothing company’s website. I’ll keep everyone up to date as we’re going to have a major sale once the new site launches.

- Movies, movies, movies! I think Summer ‘09 is the summer for movies! Checkout our past reviews and keep up with the times at The Spoiler Warning!

- “Reading is to the mind what exercise is to the body.” (Joseph Addison) Well, I’ve been doing both! I just finished The Shack (A+ recommend) and am now reading The Constitution in Exile (so far, very enlightening)…man, I love reading! Also, just started back at the gym (after a little hiatus with vacations and such) and am feeling the burn. Here I come…winter body…

- The next million dollar idea? Hopefully one of my many. I’m currently working on an uber-secret (not really) project at work and I hope you’ll get in on it!

- So much more, I don’t know where to start. But, keep up with me on Facebook (http://facebook.com/NathanielKeifer) and twitter (http://twitter.com/nkeifer)!

The Kite Runner

Over that last eight months to a year, I have become quite an avid reader (in my own right). I’ve polished off the Harry Potter series, finished all the Dan Brown books, read through several mystery/legal/thrillers (including David Baldacci and John Grisham), and most recently I’ve finished Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner. For me, it was never a matter of finding the time to read for fun – although time is limited, I’ll just use a minute here or hour there to fit in some reading. It was always the fact that I couldn’t find a book to keep my interest or even spark enough interest to begin reading in the first place. That all changed in 2008, in late July, when a friend purchased the entire Harry Potter series for me. That was the beginning of a great year of reading!
